How Our Scanner Works

LegalBanner's automatic scanner uses a headless browser to visit your website pages, simulating real user behaviour:

1. Page discovery — Starting from your homepage, the scanner follows internal links to discover all accessible pages (up to configurable limits)
2. Cookie detection — On each page, the scanner records every cookie set, including cookies set by JavaScript after page load
3. Script analysis — Network requests to third-party domains are captured and classified
4. Local storage inspection — The scanner also checks for data stored in localStorage and sessionStorage, which some trackers use as cookie alternatives
5. Classification — Each detected item is matched against our database of 10,000+ known cookies and trackers, automatically assigned a category and description

What You Get

After a scan completes (typically 30–120 seconds depending on site size), you see:
